Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) said it has begun construction of a 1-gigawatt data center campus in Lebanon, Indiana, a project expected to attract more than $10 billion in investment.
The Lebanon site will become Meta's second facility in Indiana and will be significantly larger than its roughly $800 million Jeffersonville campus, which is nearing completion. The company said the project is expected to support more than 4,000 construction jobs and about 300 permanent operational roles at peak buildout.

Meta said large-scale data centers are becoming increasingly important as artificial intelligence workloads expand and computing needs rise. The company also plans to invest more than $120 million in local water infrastructure and fund upgrades to roads, transmission lines and utilities linked to the campus.
Shares of Meta traded flat in premarket activity Thursday. Investors are likely to watch the stock during regular trading hours as markets assess the scale of the company's capital spending.
In its most recent quarterly report, Meta forecast capital expenditures of $115 billion to $135 billion this year, largely tied to AI infrastructure and data center expansion.
