The New York Times reported the spending will flow through outside political groups and includes two new super PACs. One, Forge the Future Project, is expected to support Republican candidates. Another, Making Our Tomorrow, is expected to back Democratic candidates running for Congress.
The effort marks a more assertive posture for Meta in election spending tied to policy outcomes, as state legislatures debate rules affecting AI development and the expansion of power-hungry data centers.
Texas and Illinois are among the first targets for activity, the report said, as officials weigh proposals that could affect where and how new data centers are built and financed.
Investors will be watching for whether state-level policy momentum changes, and for updates on Meta's AI infrastructure plans and costs in upcoming earnings reports.
