President Donald Trump on Saturday said that he will increase his newly announced global tariff level to 15% from 10% after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down most of the tariffs he imposed last year. “I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff on Countries, many of which have been 'ripping' the U.S. off for decades, without retribution (until I came along!), to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level,” Trump said in a social media post.

Soon after the Supreme Court issued a landmark judgment, invalidating most of his previously imposed trade levies in a 6-3 ruling, Trump signed a proclamation on Friday to roll out a 10% global tariff effective Feb. 24 for 150 days. The latest announcement comes as the president is scheduled to deliver the State of the Union address before the Congress next week.
