Feb 25 (Reuters) - Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos will attend meetings at the White House on Thursday, underscoring the political dynamics involved in the company's proposal to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, Politico reported on Wednesday, citing two people familiar with the discussions.
Netflix is locked in a heated battle with Paramount Skydance to acquire Warner Bros' studios and streaming assets for $27.75 per share or $82.7 billion.
Rival bidder Paramount on Monday raised its offer for the entire company to $31 per share, up from its initial hostile bid of $30 per share, or $108.4 billion.
Netflix did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
U.S. President Donald Trump had called for the removal of Susan Rice from Netflix's board after she said that corporations who "take a knee" to Trump could face consequences if Democrats regained power.
Trump said in a post that Netflix should fire "racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences" on Truth Social, hitching onto a post from right-wing activist Laura Loomer that he must kill the Netflix-Warner Bros deal.
